Let's Find Out About Dinosaurs

We prepared for our Mother's Day Tea for two weeks. We needed to beautifully color a sturdy paper plate, soak it in water and then mold it into the shape of a basket. After the baskets dried, they were filled with lovely flowers.

Here we are experimenting with a dino that grows in water and a large dino egg that is supposed to reveal a surprise inside.  It took a couple of days for our dino to grow from 5 " to 7 1/2 " and two days for a colorful Triceratops to emerge from the dino egg.

Here is Rex the T- Rex

Each of us pretended to be Paleontologists
We are continuing to study Dinosaurs for two more weeks.  So far, we have learned many dino facts and have discussed what it would be like if dinos came back. We are learning several vocabulary words that describe dinosaurs.

Spring is here

We have had such fun learning about ladybugs and butterflies.  We had live ladybugs (about 100!) in our room for a week.  We studied them very closely using  magnifying lenses and small bug containers. After we recorded our findings~how many legs, spots, eyes, etc., we released them back into God's world.  We learned that ladybugs lay eggs that stick to leaves and that the mommy ladybug normally lays her eggs where there are plenty of aphids.  Please ask your child about the life cycle of a ladybug and of a butterfly.

Here is our new friend John!  He is having a fun time learning about exciting things in our world and discovering  what we are learning in class. Welcome~John Mayfield

Farewell to Dr. Seuss!

We set a goal to read 14 Dr. Seuss books during our two week unit. Did your child tell you how many books we actually read and which was their favorite?

Seahorse and Sharks News

Aedan and West painting their Dr. Seuss hats for our Green Eggs and Ham breakfast during Seahorse/Sharks group time on Friday.

This week during Miss Linda's group time we read The Cat in the Hat and My Many Colored Days.  We made our own books about how we feel on different days.  We also made our own Cat in the Hat shape word books which we had to read to Miss Linda before we took them home.We plan on ready 14  Dr. Seuss books by the end of next week!

Five friends sharing a smile and a hug. Getting in line for courtyard time after a little bicycle time.

Miss Suzy and Miss Linda thought this fine piece of board "thing" would be great for a ramp for cars and trucks.  But first~there needs to be a little sanding.  Miss Suzy found goggles, sandpaper and a brush for cleaning the area after sanding. Nicole is ready for work!

Finley, Valentina, and Lily preparing to sand.
Weston and Luke continue to prepare the wood for a car and truck race.  It took us about fifteen minutes to prepare the surface.

Miss Jackie's group time focus is Frogs.   Mills says he is so happy because frogs are his favorite. The children are learning about frogs and this week they will free explore buttons and sort by classification, do a frog graph and practice numeral writing.

Show and Tell on our white blanket.  We love having our Seahorse and Shark Show and Tell out side.  We say three things about our Show and Tell item and then we field three questions about our item.

More Seahorses and Sharks

We are making patriotic collages in honor of President's Day and our Country.  We are learning the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mills, Colton, Dylan and Nicole playing Zoo Phonics Bingo.  This is serious business but loads of fun. The children are working very hard learning the sounds and signals and blending the sounds to create words.
It looks like Spencer has Zoo Bingo!  Thanks, Robert for your help!

Francesca and Spencer working on their patriotic collages.  In Miss Jackie's group time, the children made a Pledge of Allegiance book. She explained the importance of the flag and the pledge. In addition to our morning prayer time, we will practice the Pledge of Allegiance in preparation for Kindergarten.
Well, well.  What happened Finley? and West are you giving me a smile or is Miss Jackie saying something funny?

Spencer and Luke are certainly giving Miss Jackie good attention. Looks like they are trying to find the United States of America!

During Miss Linda's group time, the children learned a poem about friends and then had to draw and name five of their friends. The children also picked a name of a classmate out of a basket, written on a paper figure. The children needed to read the name and then say something they liked about that friend.

                                                            Have a great weekend!
